Why I’m Launching the Work That’s Worth It Podcast
Growing up, I noticed how many people around me seemed to be climbing career ladders without first asking if they were leaning against the right wall. Some chased prestigious titles and paychecks but felt empty inside. Others pursued meaningful work but struggled to make ends meet. I kept wondering: Why do we act like we have to choose between doing well and doing good?
This question has followed me throughout my career, and I’ve discovered I’m not alone. I’ve had countless conversations with young professionals who are craving a different path – one that combines personal success with positive impact. They’re looking for role models who’ve managed to align their ambitions with their values, but these stories often feel hidden or out of reach.
That’s why I’m launching the Work That’s Worth It podcast. Each week, I’ll sit down with what I call “Disruptors for Good” – fascinating individuals who’ve found ways to create meaningful impact while building rewarding careers. These aren’t just success stories; they’re honest conversations about the real decisions, doubts, and pivotal moments that shaped their journeys. Think of it as getting to have an intimate career chat with someone who’s blazed an inspiring trail, minus the awkward coffee meeting setup.
What excites me most about these conversations is their humanity. We dig into the messy middle – how people navigated the tug-of-war between income and impact, what they sacrificed (and what they refused to), and how they defined success on their own terms. These aren’t polished LinkedIn profiles; they’re real stories of professionals figuring out how to make their roughly 90,000 working hours truly worth it.
The goal isn’t to provide a one-size-fits-all blueprint. Instead, I hope these conversations will expand your sense of what’s possible in your own career. Maybe you’ll find someone whose path resonates with your dreams, or perhaps you’ll be inspired to create an entirely new way forward. Either way, you’ll hear from people who refused to accept the false choice between personal fulfillment and positive impact.
Whether you’re just starting your career or feeling stuck on the wrong ladder, these weekly conversations are designed to help you imagine and create work that’s genuinely worth your time. Because I believe we don’t have to wait for our “second act” to do work that matters – both to us and to the world.
The podcast launches February 4, and I’m particularly excited about its timing. It pairs perfectly with my forthcoming book, “Work That’s Worth It” (publishing April 8th, 2025), where I dive deeper into the frameworks and strategies for becoming a Disruptor for Good. While the book provides the roadmap, the podcast brings it to life through real stories of people who are living these principles.
The first episodes drop on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025. I can’t wait to share these stories with you.
