Meet Georgi Enthoven
HER BACKSTORY
Behind Work That's Worth It
Georgi Enthoven is an international thought leader, trusted advisor, and the visionary founder of Work That’s Worth It. But she didn’t start her career knowing what would come to define her.
Like many, Georgi spent the first half of her career taking the scenic route. After attending University of California Berkeley and Harvard Business School, she found herself misaligned in jobs that either met her needs for income and ambition or matched her desire to add positive value to the world. She struggled to find roles where she could combine the two. Meanwhile, she lived in more than half a dozen countries, including South Africa, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Mexico, and the United States. This gave her a truly global perspective and a special appreciation for the dynamics of emerging markets.
Today, she’s a passionate advocate for young professionals seeking to combine contribution with compensation. With nearly three decades of professional experience in various industries, Georgi’s on a mission to help individuals like you turn their career into work that’s worth it, finding a career and calling that is good both for them and for the world.
Georgi’s journey
Georgi grew up in South Africa and has always had a taste for adventure. Her African roots—as well as the many other countries she’s lived in around the globe—gave her a keen awareness of the needs of our world today.
After graduating from UC Berkeley (and falling in love with the Bay Area), Georgi then went on to Harvard Business School, which stretched her beyond her wildest dreams and introduced her to her husband Roberto, who is originally from Mexico City.
Georgi has met Nelson Mandela and Jane Goodall, two of her biggest role models (because they have such clear personal missions and lead by example). She would also love to have conversations with Greta Thunberg, Angela Merkel, and both Michelle and Barack Obama!
Georgi’s career experience spans industries from consumer tech in Silicon Valley to social entrepreneurship (reversing blindness through eye health clinics in Mexico). She has served on various boards, is a venture partner, and now an author too. Her many career experiments have led her to discover her personal mission and top 5 values of contribution, adventure, courage, curiosity, and connection.
For Georgi, being a mother is the greatest privilege of her life. Georgi and her husband, Roberto, are raising three amazing kids who share a deep empathy, curiosity, and a sense of adventure. Having children has also made the future of our planet even more important to her life’s work.
In 2020, the UN reported that we have until 2030 to curb emissions before we lose control of climate disasters. Shortly after reading this, Georgi deeply resonated with an article in the Harvard Business Review that explained that the average career is 90,000 hours. And just like that, 'Work That's Worth It' was born.
Determined to reach as many young professionals as possible, Georgi’s debut book Work That's Worth It is the culmination of her thought leadership and experiences across various countries and sectors, coaching clients, and inspiration from industry role models who are disrupting the world for good.
HELLO FUTURE LEADERS
A message from Georgi
When I graduated from UC Berkeley back in 1994, I wanted to do good in the world. The opportunities that I had access to were largely volunteer positions with limited future growth, and they did not match my ambition. So, I engaged in work where I could develop skills fast and was well-rewarded financially; however, the work felt hollow and meaningless.
A few years ago, I was reading the Harvard Business Review when a statistic smacked me in the face: the average career is 90,000 hours. So much of our valuable time here on Earth. And what if we used as many of our career hours as we could for good? My family of five alone would contribute 450,000 hours. My Harvard Business class could theoretically contribute upwards of 72 million hours.
Fast forward to the present, and Work That’s Worth It is here. I’ve had the privilege to work with numerous individuals wrestling with the same dilemma I once confronted.
Work That’s Worth It is more than a mere methodology; it’s my heartfelt contribution to bettering our world. By helping as many of you as I can, we can compound our time to solve humanity’s major dilemmas. And we can do it without sacrificing our personal needs.
Every day, more businesses are emerging across markets that allow workers to do amazing work without skipping the reward.
If any part of my narrative resonates with you—if you’re grappling with similar feelings, challenges, struggles, hopes, or dreams—consider this an open invitation to join us! Your aspirations are our driving force, and we’re here to serve individuals just like you. I eagerly anticipate you joining the Work That’s Worth It family!
